Emily Coomber (1987) verhuisde op haar 18de vanuit Nieuw Zeeland naar Nederland om haar muzikale droom te volgen. De zangeres en componist startte haar grote avontuur en zoektocht naar een eigen sound en identiteit.
In 2009, na haar studie jazz-zang aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam waar ze cum laude afstudeerde, is Emily volop de muziekwereld ingedoken. Als zangeres bij YesSister, JazzSister (vocale jazz-pop), Tea For Two (akoestische jazz & soul), the Boris Mogilevski Project (moderne jazz), Savor inc (funk//fusion) en vele anderen heeft Emily een brede interesse en ervaring opgebouwd in de afgelopen jaren. Ze heeft samengewerkt met o.a. Reinier Baas, Tony Roe, Jorn ten Hoopen en Candy Dulfer.
Tijdens de COVID-pandemie heeft ze veel samengewerkt met producers en muzikanten uit het buitenland vanuit haar thuisstudio. Ze daagde zichzelf in deze periode uit door samen te werken met diverse en uiteenlopende artiesten zoals synth-pop artiest Sines en trance DJ Guantanamo Bae. In deze fase heeft ze haar songwriting-skills en haar eigen “sound” verder ontwikkeld.
Na een turbulente periode en veel zelfreflectie werd het eindelijk tijd om weer de focus op haar eigen muziek te leggen. Eind 2019 heeft ze voor het eerst als solo-artiest 3 singles uitgebracht, volledig in eigen beheer. Haar muziek is een wandeltocht door emoties en ervaringen; het is gevoelig en eerlijk, maar de kracht ontbreekt niet. Door haar heldere songteksten zoekt ze connectie met haar publiek, geholpen door zwevende melodieën en achtergrondzang. Haar jazz-achtergrond zorgt voor een ‘sophisticated’ klank.

At the tender age of 18, Emily Coomber (1987) moved from New Zealand to Holland to pursue her dream in music. This was the start of the singer/songwriter’s big adventure and search for her own sound and identity.
In 2009 she graduated Cum Laude from the Amsterdam Conservatory with a bachelor in jazz-singing and dived headfirst into the Dutch music scene. Over the last 10 years Emily has built and cultivated diverse musical interests and experience as the lead singer for YesSister, JazzSister (vocal jazz-pop), Tea For Two (acoustic jazz & soul), the Boris Mogilevski Project (modern jazz), Savor inc (funk/fusion) and others. She’s worked with artists such as Reinier Baas, Tony Roe, Jorn ten Hoopen and Candy Dulfer.
During the COVID pandemic she took to her home studio and worked with producers and musicians from all around the world. She challenged herself by writing and recording music for wildly different artists and genres, like synth-pop artist SINES (Jason Wann) and trance DJ Guantanamo Bae. This was a unique opportunity that she used to refine her songwriting skills and develop her own sound.
After a turbulent period and a lot of self-reflection, Emily finally decided it was time to change her focus and work on her own music. In 2019 she released her first 3 singles a solo artist, doing all of the recording and production herself.
Her music is a journey through emotion and experiences, but it doesn’t lack power. The clear and emotive lyrics, aided by floating melodies and rich backing vocals, create an instant connection with listeners. Her background in jazz is clear to hear, and adds a layer of sophistication to her sound.
